My Story
Ulla Prowse is an artist and illustrator from Sydney, Australia, now based in Stockholm, Sweden. She studied Graphic Design and Illustration at Design Centre Enmore, where she developed her eye for detail and her love of storytelling through images.
With a Finnish-Australian heritage, Ulla often draws inspiration from nature, folklore, and the beauty of everyday life. Her illustrations are playful yet thoughtful, bringing warmth and imagination to children’s stories.
Alongside her book work, Ulla has exhibited in group shows, including Artefacts and Oddities at Bow and Arrow (2022) and Gather at Sketch Co Gallery (2022). She illustrated Sandra the Beardie and continues to collaborate with author Tatiana Cox on new projects, creating characters and worlds that capture the wonder of childhood.
When not illustrating, Ulla paints, draws, and explores different mediums, always seeking to celebrate small moments of magic through her art.
Ulla’s Artwork
Flannel Flowers (2024)
An acrylic painting celebrating flannel flowers, a native Australian bloom. This piece reflects my connection to my Australian roots, combining a love for botanical subjects with a more expressive, painterly approach.
Summer (2023)
A watercolour scene of children playing on a Nordic beach, inspired by my Finnish heritage. This work evokes nostalgia and the simplicity of summer moments, connecting memory, culture, and the natural landscape.
Vintage Store, Enmore (2022)
A watercolour illustration created during my Diploma of Graphic Design and Illustration. This piece captures the charm of a vintage store in Enmore, reflecting my early exploration of traditional illustration techniques and my love for documenting everyday places with character.
“In order to do something well we must first be willing to do it badly.”
